How to create posts with AnnounceKit

Your detailed guide to creating posts and their settings

Updated over a week ago

Welcome to the most important part of your AnnounceKit journey. We will start with posts!

The Posts section enables you to:

  • Manage all of your posts

  • See all of the posts on one single page

  • Filter your posts by label

  • Additionally, by clicking View stats under the specific post, you can open the post details page, from which you can get insight into your post's performance.

Creating Posts

Posts is a section in which you can manage your announcements.

Usually, these announcements are for product updates, release notes, and company news. Basically, it is the single source of truth for your announcements.

To get started, you can go to your "Posts" and click on "Create a new post"

Anything that you create here will be distributed on the AnnounceKit channels, such as widgets, standalone newsfeeds, and boosters, or sent through your email / email digest or integrations.

Before you start creating a post, let's have a quick overview of the posts section, which consists of 5 main sections:

  1. Post-creating and editing section

  2. User Segmentation section to send targeted announcements

  3. Boosters section to boost important announcements

  4. Extra Settings

  5. Preview Page

1) Post-creating and editing section

In here, you have your usual tools to get started with post-creating, as well as some extra tools to make your job easier!

You can use our content editor to create a post that reflects your brand. You can customize posts by adding images, text, video, labels, and CTA buttons.

We highly recommend testing the AI Assistant - based on the latest GPT-3 developments and truly creating better posts than many native speakers - we promise 🤞.

If you dont like the AI Bot, you can use the Templates tool and choose to create a post either from templates. The templates are designed to help users save time by providing them with a range of pre-designed posts that they can select and customize. You can also upload your own images and videos to add to the post.

2) Send Targeted Announcements with Segmentation

Setting up User Tracking & Segmentation in your widget by adding specific code snippets to the widget's source code is required to send targeted announcements and segment your users.

User segmentation in posts is a section for you to categorize your users and send targeted announcements to them.

To get started, click on "Add Segment" to find various ways to segment your users.

Adding a segmentation rule to a post consists of three sections; segmentation field section, rule setting section, and input entry section

1) In the segmentation field section, all of the fields you have entered in your widget code will be visible here.

Define custom segmentation fields like "user type," "member type," or "user country" to organize your users.

For a reminder of how to setup segmentation, please check out here.

2) Apply rules like "contains," "not contains," "is," "is not," "starts with," or "ends with" to precisely categorize users based on your criteria.

3) Use the input section to add specific details for further customization.

example: a post segmented towards free_users

You can also add multiple rules to categorize your users further. Furthermore, you can filter your users with ANY and ALL rules.

Choosing the ANY rule will show your post to anyone who fits any of the segmentation rules.

Choosing ALL rule will show your post to users who fits both of the rules and if they don't, they won't be notified.

3) Promote Announcements with Boosters

Boosters in AnnounceKit are a powerful feature designed to elevate specific announcements, ensuring they reach a broader audience.

Whether you have critical updates, new features, or important news to share, Boosters are your tool for effective communication

While creating a post, you can select one / all boosters to highlight your post in specific ways:

  • Send Email: Enabling this option will have your post sent as an email to your email subscribers.

Importing users via csv. file and send emails to them is also possible, but you need to setup an SMTP / Mailgun server to do this. For more details, click here

  • Modal Booster: You can highlight important announcements on your website in a modal window, ensuring that your users see your time-sensitive and significant announcements.

Modals are often front and center on the screen. They are great for high visibility!

  • Pop-Up Booster: You can add in-app notifications with pop-up windows to notify your users about your post.

Pop-ups also have high visibility but are less in focus than modals, as they are not as big as modals and take up a small part of your screen.

  • Announcement Bar Booster: You can also add the announcement bar booster type to notify your users about your post.

Banner bars are more subtle and can communicate short and impactful messages.

For more details, check out our Boosters article.
